Preserving and recovering Statehouse artworks

Ms. Jehlen moved that the proposed new text be amended by inserting the following new section:-

"SECTION XX. Chapter 111 of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 2I the following section:-

Section XX. There shall be a Massachusetts Art Commission Trust Fund. The state art curator shall administer the fund to collaborate with nonprofit organizations participating in competitive grant opportunities that further the mission of the department, which shall include the recovery of lost or stolen artworks from the statehouse collection.

There shall be credited to the fund money received from public and private sources to support the preservation and cataloging of artworks curated by the commission, and the recovery of lost or stolen art. Amounts credited to the fund shall not be subject to further appropriation. Money remaining in the fund at the end of a fiscal year shall not revert to the General Fund and shall be available for expenditure in subsequent fiscal years."
