Disability Law Center Monitoring Bridgewater State Hospital
Ms. Malia of Boston moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 8900-0001, in line 7, by inserting after "department;" the following: "; provided further, that the department of correction shall expend $225,000 for monitoring the efficacy of service delivery reforms at Bridgewater state hospital, including the Bridgewater state hospital units at Old Colony Correctional Center and the Treatment Center, by the Disability Law Center, Inc. Such monitoring authority shall broadly include authority to monitor and investigate all aspects of the physical environment, including infrastructure issues at Bridgewater state hospital and Bridgewater state hospital units at Old Colony Correctional Center, which shall include, but not be limited to testing and sampling physical and environmental issues and conditions at such facilities, whether or not they are utilized by persons served or inmates; provided further, that at least once every 6 months, the Disability Law Center, Inc. shall report on the impact of these reforms on the patients at Bridgewater state hospital to the joint committee on mental health. substance use and recovery, the joint committee on the judiciary, the house and senate committees on ways and means, the speaker of the house of representatives and the president of the senate."
