Amendment #1079 to H3800

Community College Campus Hunger Pilot

Representatives Meschino of Hull, Ashe of Longmeadow, Blais of Sunderland, Ciccolo of Lexington, Crocker of Barnstable, Cutler of Duxbury, Hecht of Watertown, Honan of Boston, Linsky of Natick, Robinson of Framingham, Whipps of Athol and Williams of Springfield move to amend the bill in section 2, in item 7066-0000, by adding the following words: "; provided further, that not less than $2,700,000 shall be expended to establish the Massachusetts Community College Campus Hunger Program; provided further, that the department of higher education shall distribute the program’s resources by issuing a request for proposal through which community colleges may apply; provided further, that the department shall grant the program funds based on the demonstrated need and implementation plan of each application; and provided further, that program funds received by college campuses shall be used to address food insecurity among students via means including, but not limited to, meal cards, meal plans, meal vouchers and other campus-designed projects to address community college student food insecurity”; and in said item by striking out the figure "$3,137,154" and inserting in place thereof the figure "$5,837,154".
