Creating Accessible Affordable Housing Units

Ms. Khan of Newton moves to amend the bill by inserting after item 7004-9030 the following item:-

“7004-9031 For capital grants or loans to improve or create accessible affordable housing units for persons with disabilities; provided, that grants shall be administered by the department of housing and community development through a contract with the Community Economic Development Assistance Corporation established in chapter 40H of the General Laws in consultation with the executive office of health and human services; provided further, that the department shall prioritize capital projects that include units that include accessible features and can accommodate non-elderly persons with disabilities eligible for voucher assistance under the alternative housing voucher program, established under chapter 179 of the acts of 1995; and provided further, that such projects shall be for the purpose of new or improved accessibility and may include, but not be limited to, the creation of accessible dwelling units, the widening of entrance ways, the installation of ramps, the renovation of kitchen or bathing facilities, the installation of signage in compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and the implementation of assistive technologies  ………………………………………………………………………………………………$2,698,841”
