City Owned Bridge Repairs

Mr. González of Springfield moves to amend the bill by inserting Section 2C 6121-2137 by inserting line 6 after the word “item” the words "The repair of city owned bridges is necessary to maintain their structural integrity and to insure vehicular and pedestrian safety. Maintenance of the city owned bridges has been deferred for approximately 15 years due to City and State budgetary constraints. The city needs to establish a maintenance schedule to insure the bridges' structural integrity and vehicular and pedestrian safety. A recent update from MassDOT has confirmed our bridge assessments. Upgrades such as road surface improvement, bridge railing replacements, joint repairs are needed to the Allen Street Bridge, Hancock Street Bridge and the St. James Avenue Bridge".
