Prospective Reach of Commission

Mr. Coppinger of Boston moves to amend the bill, as amended, in Section 29, by inserting after line 505 the following new subsection:-

(c)  Notwithstanding any other provisions of Chapter 6E, the commission shall not have the power to take any action regarding the certification of an officer based on conduct that occurred prior to the effective date of this section.”

And in said Section 29, by inserting after line 754 the following new subsection:-

(i) The division of police standards shall not have the ability to investigate or take any action regarding the certification of an officer based on conduct that occurred prior to the effective date of this section.
