Amendment #167 to H4860

Asian Caucus representation on commissions

Representatives Chan of Quincy, Wong of Saugus, Schmid of Westport, Mom of Lowell, Nguyen of Andover and Robinson of Framingham move to amend the bill, as amended, in SECTION 82, in line 1596, by inserting after the word “caucus;” the following words:- “2 members appointed by the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus who shall not be members of the caucus;”,

and in subsection (c) of SECTION 83 by inserting, in line 1635, after the word “law;” the following words:- “2 members appointed by the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus who shall have expertise in constitutional or civil rights law;”,

and in subsection (b) of SECTION 85 by inserting, in line 1761, after the word “caucus;” the following words:- “1 of whom shall be the chair of the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus or a designee;”,

and in subsection (a) of SECTION 86 by inserting, in lines 1818-1819, after the words “legislative caucus or a designee;” the following words:- “1 of whom shall be the chair of the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus or a designee;”,

and in subsection (b) of SECTION 88 by striking the words “2 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house, 1 of whom shall be a member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus;” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “4 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house, 1 of whom shall be a members of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus and 2 of whom shall be members of the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus;”,

and in subsection (b) of SECTION 89 by striking the words “2 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives,1 of whom shall be a member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus;” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “4 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house, 1 of whom shall be a members of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus and 2 of whom shall be members of the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus;”,

and in subsection (b) of SECTION 90 by striking the words “2 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house of representatives, 1 of whom shall be a member of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus;” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- “4 of whom shall be members of the house of representatives to be appointed by the speaker of the house, 1 of whom shall be a members of the Massachusetts Black and Latino legislative caucus and 2 of whom shall be members of the Massachusetts House Asian Caucus;”.
