Inclusive police training regarding autistic persons and persons with other intellectual and developmental disabilities

Mr. Tucker of Salem moves to amend the bill, as amended, by adding the following section:-

Section XX. Chapter 6 of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2016 Official edition, is hereby amended by inserting after section 116G the following:-

Section 116H: The Committee on police training and certification shall establish within the recruit basic training curriculum a course for regional and municipal police training schools on or before January first, two thousand and twenty-one for the training of law enforcement officers and correction officers in the commonwealth in appropriate interactions with persons on the autism spectrum and those with other intellectual and developmental disabilities, and disability related anti-racism training.  The committee shall develop guidelines for law enforcement response to individuals on the autism spectrum and those with other intellectual and developmental disabilities, who are victims or witnesses to crime, or suspected or convicted of crime. The guidelines should address those who have Intersecting marginalized identities.
