Amendment #546 to H5150

Blue Hills Reservation Study and Survey

Mr. Driscoll of Milton moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

"SECTION XXXX. SECTION 1. The department of conservation and recreation shall select an independent scientific organization to conduct a study and survey of the white-tailed deer population of the Blue Hills Reservation. For purposes of surveying, methods shall include, but not be limited to: (i) fixed-wing aircraft or unmanned aerial vehicles using aerial photography and downward-looking thermal imaging; and (ii) distance sampling using driving transects and spotlights.

SECTION 2. Not less than $50,000 shall be transferred from the Blue Hills Reservation Trust Fund to the department of conservation and recreation and expended for the independent study".
