Data Collection

Ms. Rausch and Mr. Cyr move that the proposed new draft be amended by inserting after Section 2, the following section: -

“Section 3. Section 1I of Chapter 69 of the General Laws, as so appearing, is hereby amended by inserting after the last paragraph the following:-

Beginning the first academic year following the effective date of this act, and annually thereafter, the Department shall solicit through an online data collection system the following information from each city, town, regional school district, vocational school district, or charter school: (1) the name and a description of any sexual health education curricula offered; (2) the approximate number of hours spent on sexual health education; (3) the number of students receiving sexual health education; and (4) the number of students who withdrew from sexual health education, pursuant to Section 32A. The commissioner shall publish the raw data collected pursuant to this section on the department’s website, provided, however, that publication shall not be required whenever doing so would result in disclosure of personally identifying information, as defined in chapter 93H, or otherwise violate applicable privacy laws or policies. The commissioner shall transmit the raw data collected pursuant to this section to the Department of Public Health within 30 days of the annual deadline for data submission."
