Requiring Same-Day Voter Registration

Mr. Eldridge, Ms. Rausch, Ms. Chang-Diaz, Mr. Welch, Ms. Comerford, Mr. Lesser and Ms. Jehlen move that the proposed new text be amended by striking out Section 18 and inserting in place thereof the following:-

SECTION 18. Notwithstanding sections 26 and 28 of chapter 51 of the General Laws or any other general or special law to the contrary, there shall be same-day voter registration for any election taking place on or before December 31, 2020. Cities and towns shall permit a prospective voter to register to vote during early voting sessions and on election day.
