Equitable Student Representation

Ms. DiZoglio, Ms. Gobi, Ms. Moran and Mr. Montigny moved that the proposed new text be amended by adding the following new sections:-

SECTION XX. Subsection (a) of section 4 of chapter 15A of the General Laws is hereby amended by striking out the word “full-time” in the first instance it appears.

SECTION XX. Said subsection (a) of said section 4 of said chapter 15A is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “set forth in section 5.”, the following sentence:- Student member eligibility for nomination shall be determined based on number of credit hours and grade point average as established by the board of higher education in conjunction with the board of trustees of the institution at which the student is enrolled.

SECTION XX. Subsection (b) of said section 4 of said chapter 15A is hereby amended by striking out the words “as long as the member remains a full-time undergraduate throughout his 1-year term”, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- as long as the member maintains the number of credit hours required for initial eligibility throughout such member’s 1-year term.

SECTION XX. Section 21 of said chapter 15A is hereby amended by striking out the words “a full-time undergraduate student”, wherever they appear, and inserting in place thereof, in each instance, the following words:- an undergraduate student.

SECTION XX. The second paragraph of said section 21 of said chapter 15A is hereby amended by inserting, after the words “June thirtieth of the following year.”, the following sentence:- Student member eligibility for election shall be determined based on number of credit hours and grade point average as established by the board of higher education in conjunction with the board of trustees of the institution at which the student is enrolled.
