Protections for Private Owners of Rental Properties

Mr. Soter of Bellingham moves to amend the bill, as amended, SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, an individual property owner, defined as any individual owning less than eight units of housing​ in the commonwealth, may seek reimbursements through federal COVID-19 relief funds for the purpose of offsetting costs associated with the forfeiture of payments from tenants affected by the COVID-19 emergency order. Such reimbursements shall coincide with forfeiture payments from said tenants from July 1, 2021, through April 22, 2022.
