English Language Learning Programs

Mr. Chan of Quincy moves to amend the bill by striking out, in lines 698 and 699, the words “and (iii) promote adult literacy, including strategies to master reading and writing and providing digital formats to increase accessibility” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- (iii) promote adult literacy, including strategies to master reading and writing and providing digital formats to increase accessibility; and (iv) provide English language learning programs to promote access to the workforce;

And further amend the bill by striking out, in lines 706 and 707, the words “or (vi) lives in a census tract where over 20 per cent of the populations fall below the federal poverty line” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- (vi) lives in a census tract where over 20 per cent of the populations fall below the federal poverty line; or (vii) is an immigrant, refugee or person of color;

And further amend the bill by inserting after the word “programs”, in line 722, the following words:- , English language learning programs.
