Amendment #1132 to H4000

Rural Electric Vehicle Chargers

Ms. Whipps of Athol moves to amend the bill by inserting the following new section:-

Section XXXX. The executive office of housing and economic development shall undertake a feasibility study to establish a grant program for the placement of electric vehicle chargers in rural communities to facilitate the effective use of electric vehicles throughout the Commonwealth.  The study shall include the following parameters; development of strategies to alleviate “charge anxiety” felt by motorists in rural areas, development of strategies to encourage motorist to visit rural and Buy Local, to provide singular charging stations in rural communities to encourage the purchase and use of electric vehicles.

 

The study shall provide a financial analysis of the costs associated with implementing and placing electric vehicle charging stations in rural communities.  The department shall file a report with the legislature on their findings and recommendations by July 1, 2022.
