Amendment #489 to H4000

Preference for steel and fabricated steel products and services for construction projects in the Commonwealth

Mr. Golden of Lowell moves to amend the bill by adding the following new section:-

“SECTION XXXX. Chapter 30B of the General Laws is hereby amended by inserting after section 20, the following new section:

Section 20A. (a) Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary and to the extent permitted by federal law, any governmental body subject to the provisions of this chapter shall choose steel and manufactured/fabricated steel products and services manufactured/fabricated in the Commonwealth or manufactured/fabricated in any other New England state for all construction projects exceeding $500,000.00.

(b) A governmental body shall effectuate such preference in its’ advertising for bids, contracts or otherwise."
