Amendment #855 to H4000

An Amendment to improve efficiency and service to the public in the Probate and Family Courts

Mrs. Harrington of Groton moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

SECTION XXXX. That a Commission shall be established to evaluate the most effective allocation and management of personnel between the registry side of the Probate and Family Court and the judicial side of the Probate and Family court to enhance service to the public in the most cost effective and practical way. The commission shall be established within three (3) months  of the passage of this Bill and shall make recommendations in writing to the Chief Justice of the Trial Court, The Chief Justice of the Probate and Family Court, the Governor of the Commonwealth, The Speaker of the House; The President of the Senate; The House Minority Leader; The Senate Minority Leader and the Members of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary within six (6) months of establishment of the Commission. The composition of the Commission shall include one (1) member appointed by the The Speaker of the House;  one (1) member appointed by The President of the Senate; one (1) member appointed by The House Minority Leader; one (1) member appointed by The Senate Minority Leader; three (3) members appointed by The Chief Justice of the Probate and Family Court; three (3) members appointed by the President of the Massachusetts Registers of Probate Association; one (1) members appointed by the House Chair and one (1) member appointed by the Senate Chair of the Joint Committee on the Judiciary.
