Amendment #878 to H4000

Access to MAT Programs

Ms. Garlick of Needham moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

SECTION XXXX. Notwithstanding any general or special law or rule or regulation to the contrary, the department of correction, in conjunction with the department of public health, shall make available all medication-assisted treatments approved by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of an opioid-related substance use disorder when requested by a state detainee or prisoner and upon the recommendation of a qualified addiction specialist, as part of any medication-assisted treatment program. The provisions of this section shall apply to any medication-assisted treatment program including, but not limited to, those required pursuant to chapter 208 of the acts of 2018.”
