Community College Campus Hunger Program

Ms. Meschino of Hull moves to amend the bill in section 2A in item 1599-2037, in line 42, by inserting after “cybersecurity” the following: “; provided further, that not less than $2,700,000 shall be expended to establish the Massachusetts Community College Campus Hunger Program to tackle student hunger and food insecurity to support degree attainment; provided further, that the department of higher education shall distribute the program’s resources by issuing a request for proposal through which community colleges may apply; provided further, that the department shall grant the program funds based on the demonstrated need and implementation plan of each application; and provided further, that program funds received by college campuses shall be used to address food insecurity among students via means including, but not limited to, meal cards, meal plans, meal vouchers and other campus-designed projects to address community college student food insecurity”.
