An Act relative to the Mashpee Select Board.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Court assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:
 

SECTION 1. Section 1-3 of the charter of the town of Mashpee on file with the office of the state archivist as provided by section 12 of chapter 43B of the General Laws, is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:- select board.

SECTION 2. Section 1–7 of said charter hereby amended by striking out the definition of “Board of Selectmen:” and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-

Select Board. The words "Select Board" shall mean the board of persons referred to in the General Laws of Massachusetts and heretofore in this Charter as the Board of Selectmen."

SECTION 3. Section 2-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 4. Section 2-6 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 5. Section 2-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 6. Section 2-11 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 7. Section 3-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words:- select board.

SECTION 8. Said section 3-1 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the word “selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- select board.

SECTION 9. Said section 3-1 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “office of selectman” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- office of select board member.

SECTION 10. Said section 3-1 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “remaining selectmen” and inserting in place thereof the following words:- remaining select board members.

SECTION 11. Section 3-2 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 12. Section 4-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 13. Section 4-2 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 14. Section 4-4 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 15. Section 4-5 of said charter is hereby further amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 16. Section 5-1 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – the words select board.

SECTION 17. Section 5-4 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each and since the following words: – select board.

SECTION 18. Section 5-7 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 19. Section 7-7 of said chapter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 20. Section 8-5 of said charter is hereby amended by striking out the words “board of selectmen” and inserting in place thereof in each instance the following words: – select board.

SECTION 21. Notwithstanding sections 21 and 32 of chapter 40 or section 5 of chapter 40A of the General Laws or any general or special law to the contrary, the board of selectmen of the town of Mashpee may amend the general by laws and zoning by-laws of the town by majority vote to revise all references to the board of selectmen and its members to select board and select board member respectively.

SECTION 22. This act shall take effect upon its passage.
