Amendment #1414 to H4700

Medication Assisted Treatment Program

Mr. Cusack of Braintree moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:-

"SECTION XX.

Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the Department of Corrections, in conjunction with the Department of Public Health, shall make available all medication-assisted treatments approved by the federal Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of an opioid-related substance use disorder when requested by a state detainee or prisoner and upon the recommendation of a qualified addiction specialist, as part of any medication-assisted treatment program.  The provisions of this section shall apply to any existing, future, or ongoing medication-assisted treatment programs, including those required pursuant to Chapter 208 of the Acts of 2018."
