Amendment #1474 to H4700

Gas Tax Suspension

Representatives Frost of Auburn, Jones of North Reading, Ferguson of Holden, Gifford of Wareham, Barrows of Mansfield and Smola of Warren moves to amend the bill by adding the following sections:-

“SECTION VV. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the commissioner of revenue shall hereby suspend enforcement of the collection of the gasoline excise tax contained in section 4 of chapter 64A of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2020 Official Edition.

SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, not more than 30 days following the resumption of the collection of the tax per gallon on motor vehicle fuel excise, the commissioner of the department of revenue shall certify to the comptroller of the commonwealth the amount of tax per gallon not collected and the comptroller shall transfer the certified amount from the general fund to the state transportation fund.

SECTION YY. Sections VV of this act is hereby repealed.

SECTION ZZ. Section YY of this act shall take effect 60 days from the effective date of this act.”
