Amendment #589 to H4700

Local Food Policy Council

Mr. Tucker of Salem moves to amend the bill in Section 2, in line item 2511-0100, by inserting after the words “shellfish” the following: provided no less than $250,000 shall be allocated for a grant program, administered by the Department of Agricultural Resources in consultation with the Massachusetts Food Policy Council, to support local food policy councils in the Commonwealth. Food policy councils are defined as networks that bring together local food system stakeholders (including public health, agriculture, and anti-hunger organizations as well as institutions, schools, youth, farmers, and people experiencing food insecurity) to address food-related issues. These grants will seek to build the equity, efficacy, and capacity of local FPCs to develop and implement local solutions to food system challenges
