Amendment #35 to H4879
Notification to DCF, DYS, and state involved youth of continued eligibility for services upon reaching the age of majority
Mr. LeBoeuf of Worcester moves to amend the bill in Section 36 by adding the following:
A child or adolescent in the care and custody of the department of children and families or the department of youth services or are eligible for services from the department of mental health or the department of developmental services must be notified of their eligibility for continuing behavioral and mental health care after becoming emancipated or turning the age of eighteen. This notification must occur at least six months before the adolescent’s eighteenth birthday and on the day they are released from state custody.
