Behavioral Health Advisory Committee Plans for College and University Students

Representatives Keefe of Worcester and Balser of Newton move to amend the bill by inserting after Section 2 the following two sections:

SECTION 2A. The behavioral health advisory committee, established in section 72 of Chapter 102 of the Acts of 2021, shall prepare a comprehensive plan for the development, implementation and maintenance of three regional inpatient and partial care program centers across the Commonwealth to provide behavioral health services to college and university students with acute mental health problems and an after care program to assist them with transitioning back to campus.

SECTION 2B. The behavioral health advisory committee, established in section 72 of Chapter 102 of the Acts of 2021 shall, in collaboration with William James College, UMass Amherst, and Middlesex Community College, prepare a comprehensive plan for the design and development of a faculty education institute to train Massachusetts college and university faculty and staff in mental health first aid and social emotional education techniques to increase the quality of campus mental health.
