Eviction Protections

Mr. Moran of Lawrence moves to amend the bill, as amended, by adding at the end the following:

SECTION XX. Notwithstanding chapter 239 of the General Laws or any general or special law to the contrary, any court having jurisdiction over residential summary process evictions shall not enter defaults for failure to appear at tier-1 events or equivalent proceedings, so long as the 2-tier system remains in effect."
