Ensuring the CNA Certification Pilot Program Reflects the Linguistic Needs of Workers and Patients

Mr. Keenan, Ms. Comerford and Ms. Jehlen move to amend the bill by inserting, after the word “training”, in line 4, the following words:-

“; provided, however, that the training shall be provided in multiple languages, including, but not limited to, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole and Chinese, and shall be eligible for state appropriations and supplemental provider rates that (a) offset the cost to the employer of providing this training and (b) are utilized for paid training opportunities. The pilot shall also offer all CNA examination components to all qualified candidates in multiple languages, including, but not limited to, English, Spanish, Portuguese, Haitian Creole and Chinese”.
