Outdoor Dining Working Group

Mr. Cyr moves to amend the bill by inserting after section __ the following new section:-

“SECTION __.  The Alcohol Beverage Control Commission shall convene a working group to explore the existing outdoor dining permitting process and make recommendations to expedite the approval process for future applications for on-premises license outdoor dining expansion. Said working group shall be made up of the following: the Executive Director of the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission or their designee, a representative of the Massachusetts Restaurant Association, a representative of the Massachusetts Municipal Association, the House and Senate Chairs of the Joint Committee on Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure, and any other representative deemed necessary by the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission. The working group shall explore the state and municipal approval process, make recommendations for best practices for municipalities wishing to expand outdoor dining opportunities for existing license holders, and recommend any legislative changes needed to expedite future outdoor dining expansion for existing license holders. The working group shall solicit public comment with an emphasis on soliciting geographic diverse perspectives and input from proprietor owned restaurants and seasonal restaurants. The working group shall make recommendations by December 31, 2021.”.
