Redraft Amendment 8

Protecting and Ensuring Voter Registration

Ms. Chang-Diaz, Ms. Rausch, Mr. Eldridge, Ms. Jehlen and Mr. Gomez move that the proposed new draft be amended in Section 16, by striking the words “or jail”, in line 407, and inserting in place thereof the following words:- 

“, jail, or department of youth services facility.”; and

by inserting after the word “record”, in line 423, the following words:-

“(vi) enter into a memorandum of understanding with the secretary of the commonwealth to become an automatic voter registration agency as provided in Section 42G½ of Chapter 51 of the General Laws.”
