COVID-19 Paid Leave Gap Commission

Messrs. O'Connor, Timilty, Tarr and Feeney move that the proposed new text be amended by inserting the following section:-

“SECTION XX. Notwithstanding any general or special law to the contrary, the executive office of labor and workforce development shall examine the cost of providing emergency paid sick leave for (i) employees who were absent from and unable to work between March 10, 2020 and April 2, 2020 and who were ineligible for paid leave for such absence due to (i) illness associated with the novel 2019 coronavirus or (ii) school or childcare closures necessitating parental care and supervision at home. The executive office shall submit the examination and any recommendations to the clerks of the senate and house of representatives and the joint committee on labor and workforce development not later than 120 days after the effective date of this act.”.
