Studying the Expansion of Sporting Events

Mr. Moore moves that the proposed new text be amended in Section 8, by adding at the end thereof the following new section:-

“Section 24. The commission shall study the feasibility of extending legal wagering to additional sporting events and present a report to the joint committees on ways and means no later than one year after the enactment of this legislation. The report shall study sporting events including but not limited to electronic sports events, competitive video game events, and olympic sports or athletic events. The commission shall consider (i) the age of contestants or athletes participating in the sporting event, (ii) the ability of a governing body to comply with the commission’s regulations, (iii) the number and amount of wagers likely to be placed on the event, and (iv) the ability of operators to ensure the validity of event outcomes.”
