Increasing funding for nonprofit security grants

Messrs. Lesser, O'Connor, Gomez and Montigny, Ms. Rausch, Messrs. Pacheco, Cyr, Timilty and Tarr, Ms. Chandler, Ms. Creem and Mr. Collins move that the proposed new text be amended in section 2A, by inserting after item 1599-6087 the following item:-

"1599-6068 For a reserve to support a nonprofit security grant program for target hardening and other security enhancements to nonprofit organizations 228 that are at high risk of terrorist attacks or hate crimes, as defined under section 32 of chapter 22C of the General Laws; provided, that prioritization shall be given to nonprofit organizations that have experienced instances of terrorist attacks or hate crimes, as defined in said section 32 of said chapter 22C; provided further, that the grants shall be distributed in a geographically equitable manner across the eastern, central and western regions of the commonwealth; and provided further, that until the full exhaustion of funds from this item, the executive office of public safety and security shall submit annual reports to the house and senate committees on ways and means that shall include, but not be limited to, the: (i) number of grant applicants; (ii) successful grant applicants; (iii) criteria used to evaluate grant applications; and (iv) amount of funds awarded to each grant recipient………………………….$5,000,000"
