Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) for all public safety vehicles

Messrs. Fattman, Tarr, O'Connor, Moore and Montigny moved that the proposed new text be amended in section 2, in item 8000-0313, by adding the following words:-

“; provided further, that not less than $500,000 shall be expended for a grant program to be administered by the executive office of public safety and security for municipalities, public colleges and universities, and corporations for charitable purposes as defined by M.G.L. section 2 of chapter 180, to purchase automated external defibrillators for public safety and first responder vehicles; provided further, that not later than March 1, 2023, the secretary of public safety and security shall submit a report to the clerks of the senate and house of representatives and the senate and house committees on ways and means that shall include, but not be limited to: (i) a list of the municipalities, public colleges and universities, and charitable corporations receiving grant funds; and (ii) the amount of grant funds distributed to each municipality, public college and university, and charitable corporation”; and by striking out the figure “$100,000” and inserting in place thereof the following figure:- “$600,000”.”
