Geriatric Psychiatric Patients

Ms. Khan of Newton moves to amend the bill by adding the following section: "SECTION XXXX. The Secretary of Health and Human Services shall convene a task force to include representatives from the relevant state agencies, including but not limited to the Department of Public Health, the Department of Mental Health, MassHealth, and the relevant stakeholders, including but not limited to the MA Association of Behavioral Health Systems, Massachusetts Health and Hospital Association, Massachusetts Senior Care Association, and Dignity Alliance, to consider the problem, and issue recommendations, concerning stuck geriatric psychiatric patients who are ready to be discharged from acute care in a geriatric psychiatric unit to a nursing home, but for whom placement beds are not available for extended periods. The task force shall publish a report, with recommendations for solutions necessary to address this problem, by December 31, 2023".
