Treatment of Serious Mental Illness in Correctional Settings

Mr. Finn of West Springfield moves to amend the bill by inserting the following;

XXXX-XXXX For a reserve to meet the expenses associated with the implementation of a pilot program at the department of correction and county correctional facilities to treat persons suffering from serious mental illness with clinically appropriate long acting injectable medications; provided, that not later than March 10, 2023, the office shall submit a report to the house and senate committees on ways and means that shall include, but not be limited to: (i) the total number of individuals receiving treatment; (ii) the number of individuals requesting treatment who were not approved for said treatment; (iii) the reason for said denial of treatment; and (iv) initiatives in place to expand and improve access to medication-assisted treatment for incarcerated individuals within county correctional facilities..................................................................................... $2,500,000
