Amendment #442 to H3900
Digital Textbooks
Mr. Rogers of Cambridge moves to amend the bill in section 2 by inserting the following new item:
"xxxx-xxxx: The department of higher education is hereby authorized and directed to enter into a one year contract to provide each enrolled community college student with a one year digital textbook subscription provided by a contractor capable of providing electronic and hard copy textbooks, study guides, practice tests, online learning platforms and other educational materials; provided further, that said contractor shall have an existing collection of materials that support at least 600 college courses and that the subscription provides student access to the contractor's entire catalogue of learning resources and educational materials under said subscription; provided further, that the contractor has at least three years experience providing 24 hour a day, 365 days a year, US based, on demand technical support for both students and faculty; provided further, that said, contractor provides training and support resources for faculty; and provided further, that said contractor has a demonstrated track record of both producing student cost savings for books and improved student outcomes...... $3.500,000"
