SENATE, February 12, 2024.

The committee on Senate Rules to whom was referred the House Bill to designate a certain bridge in the town of Lexington in honor of Henry N. “Hank” Manz (House, No. 4160) reports, that the matter be placed in the Orders of the Day for the next session with an amendment striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thererof the text of Senate document numbered S2641; and by inserting before the enacting clause the following emergency preamble:- “Whereas, The deferred operation of this act would tend to defeat its purpose, which is to designate forthwith a bridge in the town of Lexington, therefore it is hereby declared to be an emergency law, necessary for the immediate preservation of the public convenience.”

Bridge number L10010 located on state highway route 2A spanning interstate highway route 95 in the town of Lexington shall be designated and known as the Henry N. “Hank” Manz Bridge in honor of his outstanding commitment to the community, which included serving as scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts Troop 160 for 17 years, creating an in-house hockey league for which he served as commissioner for 20 years, serving as a select board member in the town of Lexington for 9 years, serving as a member of the Lexington town meeting for 26 years, proudly serving his country in active duty for 11 years in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving on various town committees and receiving the White Tricorne Hat Award in 2018 by Lions Club of Lexington, Inc. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain suitable markers bearing this designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
