Allocation of Funding for Gambling Addiction Treatment and Prevention

Mr. Scanlon of North Attleborough moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION XXXX. Section 58 of chapter 23K of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by inserting, after the word “strategies”, in line 14, the following words:- “; provided that, the department of public health shall expend 50% of the funds it receives from this fund for measures for prevention of gambling addiction and 50% of the funds it receives from this fund for measures for treatment for gambling addiction. The secretary shall expend: (i) 50 per cent of these funds to the department of public health or other departments, offices, agencies, commissions or programs operating under the authority of the executive office of health and human services; and (ii) 50 per cent of these funds to the Massachusetts gaming commission, established pursuant to section 3”.
