Amendment #1484 to H4600

Allocation of Funding for Prevention and Treatment of Gambling Addiction

Mr. Scanlon of North Attleborough moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

“SECTION XXXX. Section 58 of chapter 23K of the General Laws, as appearing in the 2022 Official Edition, is hereby amended by adding the following sentence:- “The secretary shall expend the funds as follows: (i) 50 per cent of the funds to the department of public health or other departments, offices, agencies, commissions or programs operating under the authority of the executive office of health and human services; provided that, the department of public health shall expend 50 per cent of any funds it receives from this fund for measures for prevention of gambling addiction and 50 per cent of any funds it receives from this fund for measures for treatment for gambling addiction; and (ii) 50 per cent of the funds to the Massachusetts gaming commission, established pursuant to section 3”.
