SENATE, August 16, 2024.

The committee on Senate Rules to whom was referred the House Bill designating a portion of state highway Route 7 in the town of Sheffield as the Brigadier-General John G. Barnard highway (House, No. 4617) reports, that the matter be placed in the Orders of the Day for the next session with an amendment striking out all after the enacting clause and inserting in place thererof the text of Senate document numbered S2940.

The portion of United State highway route 7 in the town of Sheffield beginning at mile marker 4.9  in the town of Sheffield and ending at mile marker 5.7  shall be designated and known as the Brigadier-General John G. Barnard highway in honor of Brigadier-General John G. Barnard for his dedicated service in the United States Army as Chief Engineer of the Civil War Defenses of Washington. The Massachusetts Department of Transportation shall erect  and maintain suitable  markers along the portion of United States highway route 7 bearing the designation in compliance with the standards of the department.
