Grant Program Code Compliance

Mr. Pignatelli of Lenox moves to amend the bill in item 7004-0073 of section 2 by adding the following: “; provided further, that not less than $5,000,000 shall be expended for grants to private homeowners or private housing developers to renovate, reconstruct or rehabilitate affordable residential units or developments with less than 15 units for projects undertaken for the purpose of compliance with state codes and laws or for other purposes related to the health and safety of residents; provided however, that, priority shall be given to the installation of fire sprinklers installed in accordance with the state building code as required by the municipality in which the housing is located.”
