Middlesex County Elderly Congregate Housing Expansion Project

Miss Garry of Dracut moves to amend the bill by adding the following section:

SECTION XXXX. There shall be a pilot project established in Middlesex Community that doubles the number of available congregate units in 25 Middlesex Communities for local elderly citizens with each individual having their own bedroom and bathroom but sharing the kitchen and other living areas with the other elderly residents. The local contractor shall coordinate the selection of the appropriate senior citizens for each unit with first preference being given to elderly residents of the community where located. These senior citizens shall not be required to have physical disabilities that require home health aides or nursing personnel on a permanent basis. The Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities shall promulgate regulations to facilitate the pilot project and fund the creation of such housing units.
