Strengthening Patient Safety and Practice Standards

Ms. Fiola of Fall River moves to amend the bill in section 34 in lines 316-320 by striking the definition of “low-risk pregnancy” and inserting in place thereof the following definition:-

“Low-risk pregnancy”, a pregnancy meeting all of the following conditions: (i) the absence of any preexisting maternal disease or condition likely to affect the pregnancy, including a prior history of cesarean delivery; (ii) the absence of a significant disease arising from the pregnancy; (iii) the presence of a singleton fetus; (iv) a cephalic presentation; (v) a gestational age of the fetus greater than 37 0/7 weeks and less than 42 0/7 weeks of pregnancy at the time of labor and delivery; (vi) other criteria as determined by the board in consultation with the department of public health and the board of registration in medicine.
