Amendment #109 to H4789

Children’s Services of Roxbury

Mr. Worrell of Boston moves to amend the bill in Section 2, in item 7002-8062, in line 136 by inserting after the word "commonwealth;" the following:

“Provided further, that not less than $2,500,000 shall be expended for Children’s Services of Roxbury to renovate and transform two underutilized buildings in the heart of Boston’s Black community, a vacant structure and a blighted alleyway into a Center for Family Well-being with a welcoming “Front Porch” where families in crisis can turn for help. This will create over 175 new career-oriented jobs for local residents, growing its core businesses by 25% to serve an additional 1,500 community members annually in Roxbury, Worcester, and Springfield. Expanding culturally attuned behavioral health care, increased access to housing for homeless families, a 40% growth in 100% subsidized early education for low-income families, and new workforce pathways for unemployed young adults in STEM and behavioral health careers. And growing its network of 80+ Latina and Black women-owned family-based childcare businesses in Boston and Worcester”.
