Public Space Safety

Mr. Collins moves that the proposed new text be amended by adding the following section:-

SECTION X. Item 1599-6090 of said chapter 268 of the acts of 2022 is hereby amended by striking out the words "provided further, that not less than $250,000 shall be expended to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority for the staffing costs associated with the Massachusetts Graf Writers Collective pilot program" ”; and by inserting in place thereof the following words:- provided further that $100,000 shall be expended to Massachusetts State Police Troop H for dedicated patrols including along southwest corridor park in the Back Bay, Roxbury and South End sections of the City of Boston, the Old Harbor Reservation in South Boston section of the city of Boston and Columbia Road; provided further $40,000 shall be expended to the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority transit police for dedicated patrol at Newmarket Square, Massachusetts avenue and Back Bay Stations; provided further $50,000 shall be expended to the South Boston Allied War Veterans for the Evacuation Day/ St. Patrick’s Day Parade; provided further $35,000 shall be expended to Julie’s Family Learning Center for children and families; provided further $25,000 shall be expended for the South Boston Neighborhood House for their senior center and community programming.
