Protecting elections

Ms. Edwards, Messrs. Kennedy and O'Connor, Ms. Rausch, Ms. Jehlen, Messrs. Keenan, Gomez and Cronin, Ms. Miranda, Messrs. Payano and Moore and Ms. Moran move that the proposed new text be amended by striking out the paragraph in lines 612-617 and inserting in place thereof the following paragraph:-

(k)(1) Whoever possesses a firearm, rifle or shotgun, as defined in section 121 of chapter 140, in a state, county or municipal administrative building or a judicial or court administrative building, or in a polling place or early voting site while open for voting or within 150 feet of the building entrance door to such a polling place or early voting site, and knows or reasonably should know such location is a state, county, municipal, court or judicial administrative building or such a place or site, shall be punished by a fine of not more than $1,000. Signs stating that the carrying of a firearm is prohibited shall be clearly and conspicuously posted at the entrance of such a building.
