Promoting Graduate Medical Education
Messrs. Lewis and Tarr move that the proposed new text be amended by adding the following section:-
“SECTION X. MassHealth shall make Graduate Medical Education payments for primary care, behavioral health, and other physician shortage professions residency training. These payments may also support community-based training for other health professionals, including but not limited to, family medicine nurse practitioners, dentists, and dental hygienists. Eligible recipients of these payments shall include community health centers. The Executive Office of Health and Human Services shall prioritize payments to fund placements at community-based settings, at organizations that serve a high public payer mix. The executive office shall promulgate and revise any rules or regulations necessary to implement this provision by November 30, 2024. The executive office shall consult with the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, Inc. regarding the implementation of these payments.”
