Amendment #12 to H2024
9 P.M. Session Deadline
Representatives Jones of North Reading, Ferguson of Holden, Frost of Auburn, Muradian of Grafton, Vieira of Falmouth and Smola of Warren move to amend the order in proposed rule 1A by striking, in line 5, the words “midnight unless by unanimous consent” and inserting in place thereof the words “9 o’clock P.M. unless by a two-thirds vote of the members present. At the hour of 9 o’clock P.M. if the House is in session, the Speaker shall interrupt the business then pending and shall, without debate, place before the House the question on suspension of this rule which shall be decided by a two-thirds majority vote of members present and voting by a recorded yea and nay vote. If the vote is in the affirmative, said vote shall permit the House to remain in session until the hour of midnight; provided that the session shall not continue beyond the hour of midnight, unless by unanimous consent of the members present.”
