Amendment #1406 to H4000

Relative to DCR property in Newton,

Mrs. Sangiolo of Newton moves to amend the bill in section 2, in item 2800-0100, by adding the following:

provided further, that DCR shall conduct a public hearing in the city of Newton on the future use of the building located at 107 Charles Street, Newton, MA not less than 120 days prior to taking any action that would result in the change of use or control of the building, removal or demolition of the building, or displacement of organizations currently authorized to use the building, and will provide notification of such hearing directly to the city of Newton and organizations currently authorized to use the building; and provided further, that the DCR shall conduct an assessment on whether there are alternative local sites to accommodate organizations currently using the building, identify additional local public uses of the building, including its use in support of the Riverway trail system, and identify and determine any costs and funding sources to maintain or improve the building for such purposes.
