Amendment #208 to H4000

Amendment to the Definition of "Veteran" to Include Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS)

Mr. Kearney of Scituate moves to amend the bill in section 1200-1900, by adding the following language:

"Provided further, that the definition of ‘veteran’ in this section be amended to include members of the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and other federally recognized commissioned corps, ensuring that such individuals are eligible for all benefits afforded to veterans in Massachusetts. This amendment reflects the recognition of USPHS and similar commissioned corps, as established by the Acts of 1946 - Chap. 581, and aligns with the policies adopted by 25 other states and Washington D.C.”
